Infocommunication at the service of everyday life - New industry is being born
Today ubiquitous information technology offers an ever increasing breath of ambient assisted living applications: we can gain a lot if we turn modern technology applications at the service of everyday life. The main goal of theVITA 2008 Conference and Exhibition was to draw the attention of economic players and society, private and public, entrepreneurs and families to this outstanding opportunity.
eVITA 2008 Conference and Exhibition demonstrated those numerous opportunities in the field of "ambient assisted living technologies", which are made possible by the advance of information and communication technologies and applications in recent years and which may provide solutions to one of the largest societal problems of Hungary, namely that arising from aging population and the general health state of society.

Budapest - The Host City
eVITA 2008 was hosted by Budapest, the capital of Hungary, which was founded in 1873 as the unification of the separate historic towns of Buda (the royal capital since the 15th century), Pest (the cultural centre) and Óbuda (built on the ancient Roman settlement of Aquinqum). The city is bisected by the River Danube, which makes Budapest a natural geographical centre and a major international transport hub. Budapest has a rich and fascinating history, a vibrant cultural heritage, yet it managed to maintain its magic and charm. It has also been called the City of Spas with a dozen thermal bath complexes served by over a hundred natural thermal springs.

eVITA 2008 was held at the Europe Congress Center, in the beautiful surroundings of the Buda hills, yet not far from the city centre.
